Our overall guidelines are very broad and many organisations and projects fit into these categories. However we have our own strategic focus, which may change over time. We believe we can increase our own impact by having a focussed approach. For example one of our objectives is to help people living in poverty. In reality the majority of grants in this category have been to organisations helping homeless people. However the grants in this programme have not been limited to homelessness and we wish to remain open to applications by a wide variety of organisations.

Therefore the Adams application process consists of two stages. Firstly we ask you to write a one-page concept note, which can be emailed. The note should briefly outline what the organisation does and what piece of work you would like funded with a budget for the project. You should also tell us the approximate annual income of the organisation. We will be able to assess from this if we think the project fits our own strategic priorities. If it does we will ask you to submit a fuller proposal and provide more detailed information.

If you are invited to make a fuller application you will be asked for full accounts, an annual review and a strategic or business plan. The question we will be asking is how would a grant from Adams help you to achieve your own objectives. If you do not have a formal plan you will be asked to describe how the work you are planning fits with your objectives.

In summary the concept note will help us to assess if the work you are planning fits our objectives. The second stage will enable us to see how a grant would impact upon your work and/or organisation.

If we cannot help you we will let you know as soon as possible. It is worth pointing out that we receive many applications for support and although your work may fit with our objectives we may not necessarily be able to help you.
